It’s that time of year again when I post the George and Timmy Christmas special. I was feeling extra sentimental this year so I recorded a cover of the song “it’s In Every One of Us” to go with it. It’s not a super famous Christmas song… Well it’s not atually a Christmas song at all, but it was on the album “John Denver and the Muppets, A Christmas Together” and I used that version in this video.

HOWDY FOLKS! WELCOME TO RETRO MONDAYS!

So Recently, I’ve took a trip into the OTTOVAULT and discovered some instrumentals that Jim and George recorded in 2012 (or possibly before).

*They sent me a bunch of bass and drum tracks of which i took and added guitar and vocals and made fun songs with them. (“Human Centipede” and “Commando” were created through this procedure. -Jim and George are from the Original Ottomen Kansas City Band line up.)

i was inspired from what i heard and created new songs with them and here’s one of the first ones.

This song continues the tradition of Ottomen songs representing “He-Man” action figures. This song is called “Stinkor” .

I recorded and mixed this in a span of a week or so.

AS YOU MIGHT HAVE HEARD, THE OTTOMEN ARE COMING OUT WITH A NEW ALBUM ENTITLED “MR OCTOBER” WITH SONGS ALL ABOUT BASEBALL. HERE’S ONE BY ME AND CLASSIC OTTOMEN MEMBER  JIM CAMPBELL (WHO IS NOW  IN THE BAND PAPERFLEET (CHECK EM OUT ON ITUNES.) )

    IT WAS RECORDED MANY TIMES DATING BACK TO 1997, BUT THIS IS THE NEWEST RENDITION OF IT RECORDED IN 2012 DURING THE “MR OCTOBER ” SESSIONS. JIM TOOK IT, ADDED VOCALS AND MIXED IT DOWN. THE ORIGINAL TITLE WAS “I WANT TO GO TO JAPAN”, THEN IT TURNED TO SIMPLY “JAPAN” AND NOW IT’S CALLED “SO TOGUCHI” BECAUSE WE TRIED TO FIT IT TO THE NEW ALBUM (BASEBALL REFERENCE).

    NOW THAT IT’S NOT GOING TO BE ON THE NEW ALBUM, WE MADE ITAN EXCLUSIVE UNRELEASED TRACK ONLY AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD ENTITLED “I WANT TO GO TO JAPAN” AND HERE IT IS.

MISUNG MONDAY CHAPPED LIPS TIME!!!!

Here’s a new one. This one is called “Chapped Lips”. This one is recorded at Walter’s house with  Walter, Micheal, Jesse and me with finishing touches added on at my apartment.

It’s a demo i did before but one we are working on as the present “Ottomen”. Hope you enjoy it.

This song was a “Secret Song” on the first Ottomen CD (remember those?) It was recorded on the machine pictured below. You can record onto the tape and play drums at the same time. Dave played guitar and sang. I drummed with my fingers. – Jim

yet, this is a sad Misung Monday morning folks. One of the great artists who inspired me  has passed away late last week . So in honor of him and his memory, I’m making this Misung Monday a hip-hop themed Misung Monday.

We’ll miss ya, Adam Yauch. 

I dug way back in the archives to pull this out.  It’s a very budget rap song called “Budget Rap”.  (Yes, back in the day i used to make rap songs and i still do ocassionally.)  This remix, however, was done by my good friend from NYC James D Campbell, and includes actual Beastie Boy beats that he legally downloaded from the official Beastie Boys website (www.beastieboys.com).   Me and “The Ottomen” recorded this back in 1998 in Kansas City MO and it appears on the album “Adventures at the Shore”. Hope you like it, and remember it’s from 14 years ago.
