Thursday Jurstday: Ottomen producer flashback

May 13th, 2011 by justin

Dave and I made this song together. The process was probably one of the best experiences I’ve had writing with Dave (he doesn’t like writing with others).

I sampled David Bowie Soul Love to n’th degree and then added some electro beats, vocoder robot voice and we sat in the house and wrote most the lyrics by hand in front of the mic.

The video we didn’t do until 2006 when I was back in STL after my research stint in Osaka.

On a side note, this song almost got me turned away from an audition with freak folkster fashionista duo HECUBA.

They wanted someone who took music more serious. Who said music couldn’t be fun?

Thursday! = JuRsTDay! ^_~ 5/5 = Alone…

HELLO OTTOBOTS!!!! Its Jurstday Thursday so you get Justin music! Here is a sad song I wrote called ALONE. Below is a funky version…then further below is the original sad version from when I was sad about a lady in Osaka.

I am still trying to get the hang of playing my own songs. This is me in my bed room a few months ago in Tokyo. Pardon my squeeze on the high notes.

and here is the originallllll below with some retarded random video

in the original, u can hear a train go by in the background while I recorded bass and vocal together. I like.

Which one do u like? 2007 or 2011 version?

Justin’s Videos and music!

April 6th, 2011 by jim

Longtime Ottomen member and producer Justin DiCenzo has been living in Japan a while now. And although he hasnt been in the recent lineup of the Ottomen, he’s been making a steady stream of music and videos on his own. We’re adding his albums to the ottoshop, and I’ll be posting some reviews etc on this blog soon.

Here’s his most recent music video. This is his new ambient music project called Sleepy Tokyo. This song is a dreamy tone poem called 沈黙 submurged in silence
